Which activities have you participated in as part of the RARSUS project?

As part of the RARSUS project, we participate in the development of research on small-scale irrigation issues (peri-urban context) for our thesis at the end of the master’s program in Agricultural water ressources management (AHA).¶

What is your role within the project? What outcomes are you responsible for?

A student benefiting from an end-of-cycle internship allowance! To carry out the inventory of small irrigation in the vicinity of Koulikoro / Katibougou in order to obtain a statistic of the activities of the said irrigation of the city of Koulikoro / Katibougou.

Tell us about the research you are going to conduct:

I put together an inventory of small-scale irrigation in terms of water supply (rivers or groundwater), irrigation methods, cultivated crops, size of irrigation schemes, approximation of water intake and yields.

What are the personal achievements or successes you’ve had so far?

We have identified and investigated pre-urban irrigation sites, interviewed small-scale irrigators and collected irrigation data from farmers, did a survey analysis as well as an ongoing data analysis.

The RARSUS project for me is…

an opportunity to be able to manage my Master thesis research on the small peri-urban irrigation with the support of the allocations received from the project.
